Bust out the tostadas! This spicy shrimp & crab dip is refreshing and oh so addicting. It combines popular shelled seafood, with fresh green onion and a tomato sauce with medium spiciness. Check the recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 3 cans of El Pato hot tomato sauce. Try not to use a substitute. El Pato Hot Tomato Sauce used in Spicy Shrimp & Crab Dip.
  • 1 can of Crown Prince crab meat. I would not use a substitute. Crown Prince Crab Meat used in the Spicy Shrimp & Crab Dip.
  • 1 lb. of thawed, de-pooped salad shrimp
  • 1 bunch (stalk?) of green onion
  • 1 large lime (make sure it is ripe)
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 6-10 squirts of Tabasco (sometimes you just need more heat)
  • 1 bag of tostadas (Don’t get those shitty Tostitos brand. I recommend Las Cruces, Greenwise, or make your own.)

Instructions

  1. De-vein the damn shrimp if it is not, put it in a bowel. Open the can of Crown Prince Crab meat, drain the juice, take the crab meat out of the paper, using your fingers crumble the crab meat into the bowl. Also, add the salt
  2. Slice the green onion into circles. Do not add any green only parts of the onion, only those parts that have white.
  3. Open the cans of El Pato hot tomato sauce and add them. Roll the lime on hard surface using the palm of your hand. Cut it in half, then juice each half of the lime into the bowl. Add the squirts of Tabasco, if you would like. The more heat, the better!
  4. Mix your Spicy Shrimp & Crab dip well. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. The cooling down process will allow all the flavors to mix.

Enjoying Your Spicy Shrimp & Crab Dip

Tear open the tostadas like a savage and dip into the dip. This dip pairs well with both light and dark beers and red wine (ewww, who likes wine). If you make the tostadas yourself, I suggest frying them, you get a much better taste. If you aren’t in the mood to clog your arteries, toss cut tortillas with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Then, put them in the oven until golden brown. Please let me know how this recipe for Spicy Shrimp & Crab Dip tastes!
